Isabella Cacdac Ampil was born in the Bronx in the year of the Rabbit. She is currently at work on a novel.
Her writing has been supported by the Periplus Collective, where she was a Finalist for the 2026 Fellowship in Fiction; the Asian American Writers Workshop, where she was a 2024–25 Margins Fellow; Millay Arts, where she was a September 2024 Writer-in-Residence; BuzzFeed News, where she was a 2022–23 Culture and Criticism Fellow; and Stanford University, where she earned a BA in English Literature with Honors in the Arts in 2021.
She is currently the Editor & Communications Associate at Blank Forms. Previously, she has worked as a fact-checker for The Paris Review and The American Scholar, a culture journalist for outlets including The Daily Beast and The Wall Street Journal, and a hiking guide in Tahoe’s Desolation Wilderness.
Her fiction and criticism appear or are forthcoming in Harper’s, The Drift, Notch, Reboot, and elsewhere.
